Stephen had apparently attempted to find a job the day that Warren, hisson, was born. when he tried to come back, his wife's father, FredHebard, met him at the door with a shotgun and told him never to set footon their doorstep again. Their are many stories to this. "Grammie"(Emily Elizabeth Hebard, his wife, told everyone that Stephen haddeserted them.) Fred Hebard was extremely protective of his "darlingdaughter" and apparently did the battles with Stephen Jessop. Stephen'ssister told me that he tried to make the relationship work out, but wasthreatened with his life by Fred Hebard.

Stephen later remarried a Bertha ?. They lived in Detroit, MI, and eventhough he may have attempted to contact his 2 children, he probablyfeared for his life. My father, Warren Jessop, and his sister JeanJessop Jones were told that Stephen was killed in WWI. Consequently, myfather never saw or knew his father.
