Stephen, b. Weston, Mass., Feb. 4, 1739-40, baptism record dated Feb. 10, 1739-40, says "Born last Monday"; 1st marriage int. published Apr. 16, 1769, and married there July 12, 1769, Sarah Hastings. 2nd marriage int. published, Mar. 11, 1798, and m. there June 27, 1798, Ruth Smith, widow, b. 1756, and d. Weston, Mass., June 30, 1843. He resided there at head of family in 1790.
[Note: the marriage record of Ruth Smith and the intentions both clearly say "Miss", calling into question the assertion of "widow". The death record found in Weston is age 87 in 1843, so seems appropriate, but no indication of who her husband was. There is no wife signing the deeds cited below. This second marriage is not reported in Weis, p. 57.]
