    His obituary in the Carroll Chronicle, Carrollton, Ohio, Friday, October 17, 1902.

    Spencer Crumrine, who removed from Carrollton to Alliance 18 months ago, fell down an elevator shaft at George R. Craven's warehouse at 5"15 o'clock Thursday evening, meeting instant death as his neck was broken. He was employed by Mr. Craven, and his team was at the building. It was nearly dark and it is thought he was walking across the second floor to get a bale of straw and fell into the open way. The funeral was held at his home on Market street at 10:30 Sunday. Rev. A. Miller officiated. Interment was in Alliance cemetery. Services were largely attended.
    Mr. Crumrine spent nearly all his life on farms near Kilgore and at teaming in Carrollton. He was about 55 years of age and leaves a widow and a family of 9 children. The latter are Mrs. Palmer of Scroggsfield, William of Sebring, and Fred, Grace, Elmer, Peter, Nina, Edna and Delva, who are at home. He had two brothers, John T. of Canton and Frank B. of Akron. Mr. Crumrine was an honest, industrious man, insured to honest toil. He worked hard every day and was cheerful with his work. A large family required constant labor on his part. He was a member of the Lutheran church and lived up to the requirements of a good citizen. his untimely death is sincerely lamented in Carrollton.
