1898 - Family stories recount that Sophia's Grandma Sims always used to refer to Sophia sadly as "‘my little Sophy’" and whose death she attributed to the child being fed a chip on the way home from an August Bank Holiday trip to Southend. The death certificate shows that ‘Sophia Felicia (she had obviously been named after her paternal grandmother, Sophia Felicia Sims nee Cloud) died at the age of 17 months in August 1898 from ‘diarrhoea’.
