Simon Lincoln was baptised on 11th December 1743 at Potton in Bedfordshire, son of Simon and Ann Lincoln. On 19th January 1773, aged 29, he married Mary Bryant, who was about 22 years old and from the village of Ashwell in Hertfordshire, eight miles south of Potton. After their marriage they settled at Hinxworth in Hertfordshire, the neighbouring parish to Ashwell, where they had three children baptised between 1776 and 1781.

In 1779 Simon's father in law William Bryant wrote his will, which described Simon as a butcher of Hinxworth. By 1785 Simon and Mary had moved to Ashwell, where their youngest child was baptised.

Simon died aged about 43, being buried at Ashwell on 8th December 1786. Mary remarried two years after his death.
