"Holdengrabers was reputable clothing and dry goods store established in 1897. In the beginning, the business was housed in a large brick building at the corner of King Ave and St. George Street, opposite the Big Deal, a grocery store. Holdengrabers burned in the great fire of 1914, and the Holdengraber family rebuilt the store. It thrived until the mid-1930's, when Simon Holdengraber and his family moved to the United States" (Images of our Past - History of Bathurst)
