The birth record of Silas Stone Seaver notes his parents as Relief Stone, so he was apparently born out of wedlock to Relief Stone, presumably by a Seaver male. The assignment of Silas Howe Seaver as his father is conjectural, but probable.

His occupation was listed as a coachman in the birth record of his son Harry Seaver in 1876 [MA VR 278.225].

MILITARY RECORDS:

Silas Seaver, a farmer of Ashland, Massachusetts, enlisted in Company H, 32nd Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts of the Union Army on 18 July 1862 at the age of 23. He received a disability discharge from the same unit on 24 January 1864 [American Civil War Soldiers Database, on www.ancestry.com].

In the 1860 US census, Silas S. Stone (age 21, born MA) resided in Milford, Worcester County, MA in the house of Ruce (?) Cleveland. [1860 US Census for Massachusetts, LDS Microfilm 0,803,529, p. 037, house 203, family 298].

In the 1870 US census, the C.S.F. Seaver family resided in Waltham, Middlesex County, MA. The household included C.S.F. Seaver (age 33, farm laborer, $200 in personal property, born MA), Sophia Seaver (age 27, keeping house, born MA), Charles Seaver (age 5, born MA), Georgianna Seaver (age 2, born MA) and Edina Derhen (female, age 68, at home $4,000 in personal property, born MA).
