Silas Washington Griffith was born in Maryland ca. 1835. He was 49 years old in 1884 when he appeared in the

Amador County Gr. Reg. His daughter Mrs. Thomas Atwell tells That he crossed the plains to California in 1861.


From the Sacramento Union Aug 2 1886 page 4 col 3:

S.W. Griffith, Superior Court Judge of Amador County, died Saturday night ‎{July 31, 1886}‎ from

apoplexy, after an illness of ten days.
