  3. 3.0 3.1 James Maitland household, in Northumberland, Canada West, United Province of Canada. 1861 Census of Canada West. (Library and Archives Canada)
    15 Jan 1861.

Enumerated as Mary rather than Sarah. If their 1841 marriage date is correct, I assume that Mary and Sarah are the same person. This census also shows her birthplace as Canada West, but it also shows that James was botn in Canada West as well.

  4. Father Time's Harvest by Roswell Dow, in Sycamore, DeKalb, Illinois, United States. True Republican
    Page 2, 9 Jan 1895.

For the past two years THE TRUE REPUBLICAN has given a list of the deaths fir the preceeding year of the aged and well know citizens. The expressions of intense interest taken by old residents -- here and in distant places -- in these mortuary lists leads ot the compiling of this list for 1894, which properly commences with a death on the night of December 31, 1893, and not recorded in the list for that year. The death list for 1893 had 40 names.

Mrs. James Maitland, mother of James Maitland, died September 12, 1894, aged 72 years and had resided here since 1868.
