Sarah A. Haines, 93, of Waukegan, died August 25, 2005 peacefully in her sleep. Sallie was born December 31, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio and had lived most of her adult life in the Lake County area.Sallie was a longtime member of St. Dismas parish, and enjoyed attending social events there, in her later years. In her early years, Sallie was a marathon dancer and this is where she became close friends with Red Skelton. They kept in touch over the years and were able to meet again in the 1980's.After the untimely death of her devoted husband, Jerome in 1950. Sallie dedicated her love and life tirelessly to raising her five sons. With her quick wit, warm smile and soft voice, she nurtured her sons unselfishly. Family and friends marvelled at her abilities to gracefully guide her boys through life alone.Sallie will be deeply missed by her sons, Jim (Shirley) Farrell, Jerry (Cyndi), Larry (Beverly), Jack, Tony (Gayla); her grandchildren, Lynn, Laurie, Jim, Chris, Jeff, Cheryl, Kimberly, Kristen, Lisa, Ed, Elizabeth, Erin, Ben, Aaron and Christoper; her sisters, Ursula and Ruth; her brother Fran; her 22 great-grandchildren; her 11 great-great-grandchildren; and her numerous nieces and nephews.Sallie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Higgins Neely; her loving husband Jerome; her sisters, Eunice and Geraldine; and her grandaughter, Meagan.Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 30th at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset, Waukegan, where there will be visitation from 10 AM until the Mass time.Internment Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville.Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville.
