Sarah was the daughter of Lewis Meador and his second wife (name unknown). [The only Lewis Meador living in Anson County, North Carolina was Lewis Meador "Jr.", son of Lewis Meador.} At the age of sixteen in 1817, Sarah married Absalom Rorie in Anson County, North Carolina. The next year, Sarah Jane, Absalom, and their first child, James Allen "Ally," moved to Hardin County, Tennessee, where the following children were born (in order of birth): Mary, Judah, Hezekiah, Nancy Jane, Susannah Alice, John G., Sarah Caroline, Absalom, Jr., and Martha Elizabeth. Moving farther west, Absalom, Sarah Jane, and their growing family settled along Sylamore Creek in Izard County, Arkansas. Absalom and his sons owned and operated a grist mill on what is today Mill Creek (North Sylamore). Absalom & his sons were also noted for their wagon making skills. Their youngest child, Andrew Buxton, was born in Arkansas. The family says that both Sarah Jane and Absalom are buried in unmarked graves on the old farm. The cemetery is now located in a pasture and difficult to find.
