Sarah Hight Clark is identified in Hight-Hite Families of Sussex and Surry Co VA as daughter of John Hight. Surety for her marriage to Edmund Clark “was William Smith, father of Mary Ann Smith, second wife of Richard, Sarah's brother. Almost certainly one of the unnamed children of John” Hight. Marriage Bonds and Ministers' Returns of Charlotte County, Virginia 1764-1815 records the marriage of Sarah and Edmund Clark. It states she is daughter of John Hight (which one?) and the surety is William Smith. Other Hight marriages recorded in Charolotte County are Edward Hight-Elizabeth Smith (“son of Richard”) (1801), Richard Hight and Mary Ann Morton (widow) (1793), and Thomas Hight and Priscilla May (1782).
