Uncertain Identity

It is known from the will of Matthias Farnsworth that he had a daughter who married a man named Stone (Stoon). However, there were many Stones in Groton at this time, so it is not certain that she married Deacon Simon Stone. If she was his wife, then she was likely the Sarah Stone who died 1731.

No birth record has been found for Sarah Farnsworth. The Feb 1657 record often cited resulted from a mis-transcription of Sara Farrington and it should be noted that immediately after the birth, it states that Sara died in 1659. The Mar (or May) 1663 record that is sometimes mistakenly applied to her is the birth date of her half-brother Matthias's wife Sarah (Nutting) Farnsworth.
