Sarah Brandom was baptised on Christmas Day 1822 at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, daughter of Sarah Brandom, formerly Horn, and her husband William Brandom, a labourer.

Early in 1841, aged eighteen, Sarah had a son called William. The census later that year finds Sarah working as a plaiter and living at Brickhill Road in Leighton Buzzard. She and her young son William were staying in the same household as a John Linney and his family.

Three years later, on 6th February 1844, Sarah married an agricultural labourer called Samuel Linney, who was the younger brother of the John Linney she had been staying with in 1841. Sarah and Samuel went on to have three more children together: Jane in 1844, George in 1846 and Thomas in 1849.

Sarah died either giving birth to Thomas or shortly afterwards. She was buried on 29th April 1849 at the parish church of All Saints in Leighton Buzzard, and Thomas was baptised there on the same day. She was 26 years old. Samuel appears in the 1851 census looking after all four of Sarah's children. He outlived her by 48 years, and later remarried.
