"Smith, Samuel, s. of Samuel. He was bapt. at Fairfield Church, as Samuel, Jr., 24 Feb. 1694/5; d. at Fairfield, 19 Dec. 1711. … Adm'n granted, 6 Feb. 1711/2, to widow Deborah and to her brother-in-law John Smith. Distribution ordered to six daus. On 19 July 1716, Deborah and Rebecca Smith chose father-in-law Thomas Bailey guardian, and he was appointed for Sarah, Esther, and Hellinah; he was also granted adm'n in place of Sergt. John Smith and Deborah Bailey. In 1717 Deborah asked to have Bailey removed as her guardian, and chose Robert Jackson. Distribution, 1 Apr. 1729: Abigail wife of William Odell, Deborah wife of Hezekiah Odell, Rebecca wife of Thaddeus Gregory, Sarah Redfield heir to Sarah dec'd wife of James Redfield, Esther wife of Enoch Gregory, and Elliner wife of Ebenezer French."
