In the 1870 US Census for New York, the Samuel Seaver family resided in Parishville, St. Lawrence County, New York. The household included Samuel (age 40, laborer, $500 in personal property, born NY), Lorinda (age 35, keeps house, born NY, name very light), Charles (age 12, born NY), DeWitt (age 9, born NY), Hubbard (age 7, born NY), Burton (age 5, born NY) and Smila (age 1, born NY). [LDS Microfilm 0,552,598, page 18, dwelling #269]. The son, Charles Seaver (age 12) , in this family was also enumerated with William G. (age 66) and Harriet (age 59) Powers in Canton township, St. Lawrence County, NY, who are almost certainly the parents of Philena Powers. [LDS Microfilm 0,552,596, page 91] In the 1880 US census, the Samuel Seaver (age 51, born NY) family resided in Colton, St. Lawrence County, NY. The family included his wife Lorinda (probably Philena mis-transcribed) (age 45, born VT), son Charles (age 22, born NY), son Herberd W. (age 17, born NY), son Burton O. (age 15, born NY), son Smiley S. (age 11, born NY), son Ernest A. (age 8, born NY) and daughter Venile H. (age 4, born NY).
