Facts and Events
According to Kentucky Death Records, his father was Coleman Ratlif. I believe Samuel and Artemesia had at least 10 children: Thomas Walker 1869-1922, John W. 1871, Enoch Rollins 1872-1914; Robert Harrison 1874-1939; Author? 1876, Clarence 1878, William 1880, Odis E. 1881; Willis B. 1884; and Gertrude 1890. He married again after Artemesia's death, about 1905. "I've been trying to trace information about my grandfather Ratliff's family. He had a brother John W. Ratliff who married my grandmother's sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie?) Clay. They lived near Carlisle, Nicholas Co., KY when my mother was born to Robert Harrison Ratliff (1874-1939) and Virginia (Virgie) Mary Ratliff (1874-1926). Parents of Robert and John were Samuel Alexander Ratliff (1846-1925) and Artimec(i)a Whaley. Other siblings were Arthur Jake, Thomas Walker (1869-1922), Clarence M., Rolland, Walter, Everette, Wallace, Elizabeth and Gertrude Ratliff. I have heard that John and Elizabeth may have moved to Alabama...I think their children were Martha and Otis. My parents, Robert and Virginia, traveled to Kansas in 1906.
