There are intentions published in Newton 20 Aug 1749 to Hannah Woodward, but it is not clear if the marriage ever happened as Samuel died less than 2 months after this. There is no probate file for Samuel, something the complication of a wife would probably cause, so it is suspected not. No heirs are named in his father's will. Hannah's father died before this date, so his probate can't help, nothing is mentioned in Jackson's History of Newton, and no marriages of a Hannah Murdock appear in the years soon after Samuel's death. Possibly she is the Hannah Woodward (i.e., still unmarried) who married in 1755 Moses Cheney as his 2nd wife? Such seems to be the claim of Source:Woodward, Norma Slater. Descendants of Richard Woodward, New England, 1589-1982, but it hasn't been reviewed.
