Samuel Lincoln first lived in Windham, CT. He served in the American Revolutionary War and then settled in Chelsea, Vermont, where his father, also named Samuel, was Deacon of the Congregational Church. Samuel Jr.'s wife was Prudence Lincoln. They had five children, including Philinda, Levinia, Gurden, Roswell (Gurden and Roswell were twins) and Prudence. All of their children, but Prudence, were born in Windham, Connecticut. Prudence was born in Chelsea. Samuel was known in the community as a storyteller for the fantastic fantasies he would dream up to entertain his family, friends and neighbors. In his later years, Samuel received a pension for his service in the Revolutionary War. References
