Samuel Spencer Jackson, Jr. (d. 1875) of Pittsboro, NC, entered the University in 1850, became a member of the Dialectic Society, and graduated with first honors in 1854. He also received an MA degree from the University. From 1856 to 1860 he was a tutor of ancient languages. Eventually he became a lawyer.
