BURKNAP, Samuel, s. of John and Ruth, bp. ---, 1745. CR1
↑Source:Belknap, Henry Wyckoff. Burnap-Burnett Genealogy, p. 80, shows Samuel b. 17 July 1747 "possibly in Andover". Andover is probably the location of his marriage, but it seems unlikely he was born there (no birth record found in Andover or elsewhere). This date is of course, inconsistent with a baptism in 1745 and would imply two sons named Samuel. On p. 107, Belknap claims his gravestone must show the wrong age, since an age of 81 works out to a birth in 1751, but the death record shows age as 89+ working out to a birth 17 Jul 1741. It is not clear why he trusts the birthdate he has any more than the other since no birth record is found, and the source for it is never given. Belknap mentions a guardian file (Middlesex 3604) that shows Samuel in his 16th year in 1762 which gives a birth about 1746-7.]
