Howe Genealogies, p. 81, lists a daughter Ruth as child xi, born 31 March 1784-5; Sanborn's "The Ancestry of President Brigham Young," p. 151 also lists a daughter Ruth as child xi, b. 31 March 1785, Middlesex, Mass. However, no record of herbirth or christening has been found in the vital records of MIddlesex County. "An exact copy transcribed from a writing" of Phinehas Howe does not list a daughter Ruth, and no signature of a Ruth is found on the quit-claim deed dated 16 October 1807, signed by the other heirs of Phinehas Howe. Nehemiah Howe md 30 Nov 1806 in Framingham, Ruth Eames, who was born in Framingham 30 Mar 1784 (vital rec p 65). Evidently Ruth Howe, wife of Nehemiah, has been listed as his sister. Nehemiah's widow, Ruth Howe, died 7 July 1844 (Hopkinton vital rec. p 429). No death of a Ruth Howe before 1807 (date of the quit-claim deed) has been found. In her letter to her brother Phineas, Fanny lists only 10 children of Phineas and SusannaG. Howe -- no Ruth.
