Ruth Barnes Rayzor was born in Pratt, Kan., on March 14, 1915, and passed away July 30, 2004, in Camarillo.

With her daughter, Linda Fincham, she moved to Los Angeles in 1943. She moved to Simi Valley in 1944, when she married Robert 'Bob' Barnes, a rancher. Ruth worked as a postal clerk in the Simi Valley post office with postmasters Charles Havens and Norman Havens. She was active in the Simi Valley Women's Club and was an avid bridge player. After the Barnes' retirement, they moved to Ventura, where she volunteered in the gift shop of Community Memorial Hospital while returning to Simi Valley every Thursday for her beloved bridge games. Her family and friends knew her as a marvelous cook, accomplished seamstress and gardener. She was thought of as a quiet lady, always smiling and very kind. As a young woman, she was a beautician and continued to do hair for her lady friends in Simi Valley. She enjoyed playing gin rummy with any willing soul and joined bridge games on cruise ships and wherever she traveled.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie Cole; husband Robert Barnes of Simi Valley; brothers, Ross Cole of Missoula, Mont., Dale Cole of Olathe, Kan.; sisters, Dorothy Sharp Long of Larned, Kan., Sue Freeman of Torrance, Calif.; and husband Kenneth Rayzor of Santa Paula.
