[edit] ChildhoodRufus Marion was the second of 9 children born to Patrick Henry, AKA "Pat" and Jessie Adaline, AKA "Addy" (Morgan) Brock. He was born December 16, 1909 in Alabama. He was born into a farming family, but he had no desire to farm. In 1929 he met and married Miss Bizzie Lee Beard in Keener, Alabama.
[edit] Adult YearsLike his brothers he did a tour in the Navy during the war. When he returned home he was still not interested in farming. He found work in a factory, and when it announced it would be building a factory in Indiana, he and his family moved north. This was in 1950. His eldest son was 15.
[edit] ObituarySeymour Daily Tribune - November 21, 1984 Rufus M. Brock Mr. Brock had retired from Arvin Industries. Funeral will begin at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 21 at the Voss Funeral Home at Seymour with the Revs. William Klakamp and Vernon Pruiett officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery at Seymour. Persons may call at the funeral home after 11:30 a.m. today. Born Dec. 16, 1909, at Collinsville, Ala., Mr. Brock was a son of Pat and Adline Morgan Brock. he moved from Alabama to Jackson County in 1950. He is survived by his wife, the former Bizzie Lee Beard, who he married at Gadston, Ala., on Nov. 13, 1929. Mr. Brock was preceded in death by a son and a daughter. A member of Calvary Baptist Church at Seymour, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. ~condensed
