Changes
per User:Familytwigs:I have changed his name, Rufus Marion to Rufus Marvin. My father, Rufus Lee, said that his father's middle name was Marvin but I left it at Marion because I had only seen it as Marion. I found his military records and he was listed as Rufus Marvin. Thus, I made the change.
Childhood
Rufus Marvin was the second of 9 children born to Patrick Henry, AKA "Pat" and Jessie Adaline, AKA "Addy" (Morgan) Brock. He was born December 16, 1909 in Alabama. He was born into a farming family, but he had no desire to farm. In 1929 he met and married Miss Bizzie Lee Beard in Keener, Alabama.
Adult Years
Like his brothers he did a tour in the Navy during the war. When he returned home he was still not interested in farming. He found work in a factory, and when it announced it would be building a factory in Indiana, he and his family moved north. This was in 1950. His eldest son was 15.
