Shot and Killed His Wife

     Then Committed Suicide

Royal garn, postmaster at Helena, late Monday afternoon shot and killed h is wife and then shot himself and died almost immediately. The double tra gedy was committed in the presence of their little seven year old daught er and it is supposed was prompted by domestic troubles.

Following the murder and suicide the little daughter rushed to the ho me of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C.Z Garn and informed them what had ha ppened. Residents near the Garn house hurried to the home of the postmast er and found both Garn and his wife dead.

Garn shot his wife through the heart and shot himself through the hea d. He used a 32-calibre revolver. Dr. R K Evans, the village physici an hurried to the home but his services were useless as both Garn and h is wife ahd to all appearance died instantly. Mrs. Garn, her husband's vi ctim, had been in ill health for some time and only recently had return ed from the hospital at Toledo where she had submitted to an operation a nd treatment.

Mr. Garn was about 31 years of age and his wife was a few years his junio r. Garn h ad been at the post office during the afternoon and about 3: 30 went to his home on the main street in the village and a short time lat er the tragedy was enacted.--Fremont News.
