Roswell R. Seaver, a farmer of Holden, Massachusetts, enlisted as a Private in the Union Army on 2 January 1864 at age 18. He enlisted in Company A, 57th Infantry Regiment of Massachusetts on 4 January 1864. He went missing on 6 May 1864 at Wilderness in Virginia. He received a disability discharge from Company A, 57th Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts on 13 July 1864. He enlisted in Company C, 25th Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts on 11 January 1865. He mustered out of Company C, 25th Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts on 13 July 1865 [American Civil War Soldiers Database on www.ancestry.com].
