HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP Rodney C. "Captain Rod" Hineman, 74, of Hopewell Township, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in his home, following a brave fight with cancer.

Born July 2, 1931, in Glenwillard, he was a son of the late Barney and Gladys (Miller) Hineman. Rod served his country with a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Township, Aliquippa BPOE, Moose Lodge in Florida, Hopewell VFW, and the Hopewell Quarterback Club. He also served on the board for Colony Savings and Loan. Rod, known as "Captain Rod" to his friends, along with his wife, Louise, were the owners of Harold's Inn in Hopewell Township for 32 years and have remained highly influential in the family business. He was a very generous contributor to many charities and local athletic programs, especially his favorite, the Hopewell Vikings.

Rod is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise (McKnight) Hineman; three daughters and sons-in-law, Georgia and Jerry Fontana, Hopewell Township; Susan and Jon Hogue, Moon Township, and Shelly and Jeff McLaughlin, Hopewell Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Kelly Hineman, Hopewell Township; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Rich Kost, Raccoon Township, and Darlene and Dave Ryan, Hopewell Township; a sister-in-law, Martha Hineman, Linesville, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Emily Kairys and her husband Patrick, Michael and Matthew Fontana, Ryan McLaughlin, David Sebastian, Elizabeth Barney, Haley and Kendall Hineman, and Ellie Kairys.

Friends will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the WAYNE N. TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, www.tatalovich funeralhome.com, where a service will be conducted Friday at noon, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hopewell Township.

Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, Hopewell Township.

The Beaver County Special Unit will gather at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
