Facts and Events
Roderick McLean sailed of the Great Lakes for the D.C. steamship line, while his younger brother Lachlan stayed on the family farm. When he married Nellie Pollock, about five years prior to his death, he returned to live on the 12th concession of Brooke Township. Although he died in his forties, his obituary says illness had confined him to his household since Christmas and his death was not unexpected. The pallbearers at his funeral were John and George Pollock, Alex McLean, Arch McNeil, Peter Campbell, a brother-in-law, and John McPherson, a cousin. References
