Robert Washington Vest, Jr., was born August 9, 1948 in Rockwood, Tennessee, the only child of Robert Washington Vest, Sr., and Betty June Strickland.

Bob graduated New Albany High School (New Albany, IN) in 1966.

Marriage and family

Bob married Mary Delores Hess of Louisville, Kentucky March 3, 1968 in New Albany, Indiana. They had two children; Robert Washington Vest III (b. August 17, 1968) and Shawn Patrick Vest (b. October 20, 1974). The pair divorced in 1988.

Bob married Jo Anne Wright (AKA Jo Anne Laslie) January 19, 1991 in Louisville, Kentucky, who had two children through a previous marriage, Adam and Kevin Laslie.

Death

Bob died of a heart attack December 7, 2008, at his home in New Albany, IN.

Robert W. Vest Jr., 60; Army veteran

Funeral services for Robert W. Vest Jr., 60, of New Albany, will be at noon Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Kraft Funeral Services, Charlestown Road Chapel, with cremation to follow. He died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at his home.

He was native of Rockwood, Tenn., an Army veteran and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Jefferson Masonic Lodge 104, New Albany, Suburban Masonic Lodge 740, Louisville and Southern Star 154 Eastern Star.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Wright Vest; children, Robert W. Vest III, New Albany, Shawn Vest and wife, Tajana, Charlestown, Adam Laslie and wife, Angela R., Louisville and Kevin Laslie and wife, Jennifer, Louisville; six grandchildren, Ian, Kara, Matthew, Bryce, Ollivia and Emily Laslie; and his mother, Betty J. Strickland Vest.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Vest Sr. and a brother, Tommy Luckett.

Masonic service will be at 6 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home.
