BIOGRAPHY: A Genealogy of the Potter Family originating in Rhode Island By Rev. Jeremiah Potter Phenix, R. I.: John H. Campbell, Book and Job Printer 1881 - Page 19 Robert Potter, son of Moses and Zilphia (Knight) Potter, married Celinda Colvin, about 1812, daughter of Benoni and Elizabeth (Potter) Colvin, of Scituate. Mr. Potter lived in Scituate most of his days, on the same farm where his father lived and died, on Burnt Hill. He owned another farm on Bowen's Hill, Coventry. He superintended them for awhile. He moved into Coventry about 1847, to a place now called Potterville. He went in company with others in manufacturing spools and bobbins, and in the lumbering business. Mr. Potter was ordained deacon in Scituate Church in 1826. He and his wife were both members of said church until their death. They were exemplary Christians, very kind neighbors, very industrious and prudent, and were well to do in the world.
