In the 1850 census for Nicholas Co., Kentucky, Elizabeth Lynn is 59 Pennsylvania 'farming'; with [children] Susan 34, Elmira 25, Samuel 20, Mahala 17; Benjamin 12; [grandson by Susan?] Thomas 7, and [grandson by Susan] Francis M. 1. {p. 460b, <http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ky/nicholas/census/1850/pg0458a.txt>} Son Robert 33 is next door with [wife?] Hannah 21, James S. 1; and [niece by?] Almarinda 13. NOTE: I have not found son James S. after 1850. In the 1860 census for Lee, Brown Co., Illinois, R. S. Lynn is 35 farmer from Kentucky; with 'Mrs. Eliz.' 25; Geo W. 6; F. M. His other children are living with their cousin William Lynn 26 IL (KY, KY) with Louisa 21; Samuel T. 5 MN; and Bertha M. 1; as well as cousins John W. 17 IL; Thomas J. 14 IL; Hannah L. 10 MN; Sarah B. 6 MN -- all with (KY, IL); and aunt Mahala 47 KY (PA, PA), single. Also in Maine Prairie is George Lynn 26 with wife and children. NOTE: One possible explanation would be that Elizabeth was ill and could not take care of her younger children. Most sources show his death date in 1901 in MN, however I have not found him after 1880. His son George W. is buried in Maine Prairie Cemetery. {<www.findagrave.com>} |
