Specialized in internal medicine, practised in Toronto, was overseas inWorld War Two where he received the decoration O.B.E. for his part in controlling an outbreak of diphtheria. They moved to Vancouver in 1950 where Dr. Kerr was the first professor and Head of Medicine in the new Medical Faculty at the University of B.C. He was appointed the Sims travelling Professor of Medicine in 1959 visiting, with Lois, many medical centres in Africa, also Malta.
