Obituary provided by Robert Eldredge, published in the 'Long Island Daily Press', date unknown. Robert Jackson Rites Tonight Services will be held for Robert E. Jackson Sr. of Seaford, an old-time Long Islander who died Sunday at the age of 86. A cousin of the late Birdsall Jackson, who was noted for his colections (sic) of Long Island folklore, he was a descendant of the Jacksons who settled on the South Shore in the middle-1600s, one of Long Island's "first 100 families." Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Jackson had lived in Lynbrook since his childhood days when it was known as Pearsall's Corners. His wife, Rose, died in 1958, a year before they would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Jackson retired 20 years ago as an accountant for Sunrise Blue Coal. Until a short time ago when he came to live in Seaford with his son, Robert E. Jr. and his family, Mr. Jackson's pride and joy was the old-fashioned gardens at his Lynbrook home. Peonies were a specialty with him, and each year he enjoyed giving a supply of them to Christ Church there. As a youth, he was an "amateur professor of the piano," giving lessons and organizing a small band in Lynbrook. Besides his son Robert, Mr. Jackson is survived by another son, Alfred E. of East Rockaway, and two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Sickler of Wantagh, and Mrs. Rose Krull, whose husband, Charles, is major (sic) of East Rockaway; also 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services tonight at 7:30 are at the Lawrence D. Rouse Wantagh Funeral Home at 3361 Park Ave. They will be conducted by the Rev. Albert G. Dezso of the Bellmore Presbyterian Church. Interment will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
