Robert was the Justice of the Peace in Greenup County from 1813 to 1816 and Big Sandy Judge in 1817 and 1818 when he died. Of the two brothers who settled Carter County, Robert came in 1803, built a house upon a site which is called camp 60; while investigating the surrounding area he came across a very nice site on which he decided to build another house and move there. It is across Tygarts Creek and upon what is now called Democrat Hill.

Is listed in the 1811 Census of Greenup County, Kentucky.
