  5. ↑ From the placement of the christening record in the parish register, it is clear that it took place in 1587/88 rather than 1586/87. The presence of an October 1587 burial record is puzzling because there seems to be no room in this family for an older, unrecorded son Robert and virtually no room for a prior marriage since the father was presumably born at least nine months after his parents' 1561 marriage.
