This war record is presumed to be for the correct Robert French and Indian War - Campaign of 1755 6th Company - Capt. Abel Robert Fergo Enlisted Sept 11 Discharged Jan 16 From A History of Montville - Fargo Families Chapter ... He was called Elder, and was a Baptist preacher in the old Morse Church, afterwhich called the Elder Palmer Church. from The Rev. Isaac Fargo of Princeton, IL Feb. 1887 On the day before his death, my father Dea Isaac Fargo (of Stafford, Genesee Co. New York) said to me, "My Grandfather is said to have been a very pious man and to have prayed for his posterity down to the fifth generation and that includes my children." On a tombstone erected to the memory of a son of that great grandfather in the cemetery in the town of Montville, Conn., (New London Co.) is the following, "Deacon Robert Fargo Died April 10th 1794 Ages 69 years". Hence he was born in the year 1725. He resided in the Town of Montville, was a farmer by occupation and Deacon of the Rev. Reuben Pulver (or Pulwers) Baptist Church, Montville... He had one brother and one sister." The Family farm may have been named Buckley Hill. In the 1790 census, his numbers were 3-0-3-0-0 The Will of Robert Fargo, dated 26 Feb 1794 ... I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Prudence during her Natural Life the use of Improvements of one third part of my real and personal Estate with all my household goods & likewise it is my will that She should be provided with Firewood delivered at the door & cut fir for the fire and that her cow or cows may be brought up for her - night & morning to make it convenient for her - so ong as she may reside upon the preiviledges afors'd And it is my will at her Decease that whatever moveables may remain to be equally divided among my four Daughters over and above what I have given them in my Will Also I give devise & Bequeath unto my eldest Son - Stanton Fargo the Dwelling house where I now live together with two acres of Land beginning at the Southest Corner and running North with the Highway twelve rods, thence Westerly far*** to comprehend two acres to him & his heirs forever. Also I give devise & bequeath unto my Second Son Robert my new house which I have lately built & one acre of Land Containing the House & other Buildings thereunto belonging to him and his Heirs forever - Subject nevertheless to the Conditions hereafter mentioned - Also I Give and bequeath to my Eldest Daughter Sarah the sum of Fifty Pounds Lawfull Money, what I have already given her to be added in to make up the fifty Pounds which is the whole of her Portion out of my Estate, to be paid in one year after my Decease in Money or Stock equivalents - Also I give & bequeath unto my Second Daughter Amy the sum of Forty Pounds... Also I give & bequeath unto my third Daughter Mary the sum of Forty Pounds... Also I give & bequeath unto my fourth Daughter Prudence the Sum of Forty pounds...
