    4. Robert Beall, b 1715, d after 1780.

Left a legacy to brother James in his will of 1780, a Negro boy named John.

    Went to Virginia in 1740.

Captain 13th Va. Infantry, Dec. 16, 1776. The 13th Va. Infantry was changed to 9th Va. Infantry, Sept. 14, 1778. Transferred to the 7th Va. Infantry, Feb. 12, 1781, and served to the end of the war. See Heitman’s Hist. Register of Officers, Continental Army, 1775-1783.

Sent in May, 1779, with his Company to relieve the starving garrison at Fort Laurens, besieged by Indians. Located in now Tuscarawas County, Ohio, near the site of the present town of Boliver. See pages 293, 294, Vol. XXVI, Ohio Archaeological and Historical Society.

When the Indians saw this splendid organization approaching, like a great piece of machinery, they threw away their guns and fled. After satisfying the hunger of the garrison, they were sent to Fort Pitt for recuperation.

Captain Beall was soon relieved with his company and returned to his regiment in Va.
