Richard4 (Lowell), b. in Newbury, Mass. Dec. 25, 1668, d. in Newbury, Mass. May 29, 1749; m. April 8, 1695, Sarah Brown. In 1720, he purchased land in Rowley, Mass., and removed there about that time. In Jan. 21, 1720-1, he purchased land of Mary, widow of Jonathan Wheeler of Rowley, Mass., 50 acres in Rowley, Mass., on "Sawmill brook," near the "Byfield parsonage land." (Essex Co. Prob. Rec. 40:155). He always made his mark in signing his name. While in Newbury, Mass., he dealt largely in real estate. Jan. 20, 1720-1, he, a "yeoman," sold 84 acres there with buildings to Nathaniel Coffin. (Essex Co. Prob. Rec., 38:184). Sept., 1729, he, of Rowley, Mass., bought 20 acres of land in Rowley of Amos Pilsbury, a blacksmith of Rowley. (Essex Co. Prob. Rec. 66:182).
