Richard James Ligman, 71, of Sun City West, Ariz., died Feb. 28, 2006, in Sun City West. He was born Jan. 15, 1935, to Thomas A. Ligman and Etta Haskell in Tacoma, Wash. He married Elizabeth Pagel on Sept. 17, 2001, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He was a firefighter for the city of Indio for 30 years, retiring as assistant fire chief in 1988, and subsequently a corporate travel director coordinating international and valley programs. He was a member of the Coachella Valley Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ligman of Sun City West; two daughters, Margo McCormick of La Quinta and Melissa Ricard of Corpus Christi, Texas; five sons, Sean Ligman of Palm Springs, Gregory Pagel of Danbury, Conn., Kevin and Thomas Pagel of Salt Lake City and Brandon Pagel of Atlanta; two sisters, Patricia Safford of Hamden, Mass., and Juanita Dobbins of Carson City, Nev.; a brother, Minard Ligman of La Quinta; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Ligman. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Arrangements were under the direction of Menke Funeral Home in Sun City, Ariz. The family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Coachella Valley Historical Society. |
