RICHARD GREEN OF ZION DIES
Richard Dale Green, 45, of rural Orient died at the home of a
neighbor, west of Zion at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had been a alifetime
resident of the Zion community and was a farmer.
His funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hill of Zion
church, Rev. Tom Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Hill of
Zion cemetery. The Keating-Lindsay funeral home of Creston will be in
charge of the service.
His family said a memorial fund has been established for either the
Hill of Zion church or the Laura Boulter fund.
Richard D. Green was born in the Zion community, Aug. 29, 1931. He
was the son of Clair and Zella Leavitt Green. He4 was married at the
Hill of Zion church on November 26, 1950 to Bonnie Petherick.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Jayne)
Livingston of Winterset and Marcia Green at home; a son, Rod Green of
rural Orient; three grandsons, his mother, Mrs. Zella Green of Creston;
and a sister Mrs. Bill (Geraldine) O'Riley of Clarinda. His father
preceded him in death.
He had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Orient American Legion post, a director of the
Adair county fair, a township trustee, and a director of the Four County
Angus Association. He was chairman of the board of deacons of the Hill
of Zion church.
