He worked as a sub ganger earning only 6d a day. Movingto Canterbury when he was 21, he worked as a subganger with theSouthern Railway for 33 years. Richard retired when he was 65, 22years ago.Married in 1895, Mr and Mrs Foad had two sons and four daughters, theyoungest son is precussionist in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. References
