PHILLIPS -- Revelo G. Warren, 73, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1898 in Phillips, the son of Lucien and Abbie Wells Warren. He attended schools in Madrid and Phillips and attended Phillips High School. He was interested in sports. He excelled as a pitcher on both high school and later town baseball teams. June 22, 1930, he married Lucille Webber, who died in 1951. For 45 years from 1917 until his retirement in 1962, he served as a rural mail carrier out of the Phillips Post Office. In 1952, he married Pearl Steward of Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Warren were selected as the 1971 couple of the year and were honored in August at the town's annual Old Home Days observance, an event for which he had been an active committee member for 13 years. A hunting and fishing enthusiast, he served for 10 years as a registered guide at Big Island in the Megantic Region. An active worker in civic and fraternal organizations, he was a member of Blue Mountain Lodge, AF and AM; Mt. Saddleback Lodge, IOOF; Phillips Chamber of Commerce of which he was past president; the Local Men's Club, Maine State Guide Assn; Franklin County Fish and Game Assn.; past president of Franklin County Mail Carriers Assn.; a member of the State Mail Carriers Assn; North Franklin Grange; Phillips Historical Society; Phillips High School Alumni Assn. and Phillips Area Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his widow, a son David of Dixfield; and two grandsons.

In Phillips Jan 8, 1972, Revelo G. Warren, age 73. Funeral services from the James Funeral Home, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Entombment Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday evening 7 to 8. Memorial services at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Blue Mt. Lodge AF&AM No. 67 Building Fund, in care of Richard Raymond, Phillips, Me. |
