Reuben Willis, s/o Joseph Willis and Thankful Clapp, b. Sudbury 9 Jun 1738, baptized 11 Jun 1738, d. 8 Aug 1791, m. (1) Sudbury 13 Mar 1765 Sarah Brigham, d/o Thomas Brigham and Elizabeth Bowker [sic, see following comments], m. (2) [no date given] Sarah Brigham, d/o Samuel and Mary (Birgham) Brigham.
[The source cited for the assertion that Reuben married two ladies both named Sarah Brigham is Source:Brigham, Willard Irving Tyler. History of the Brigham Family : A Record of Several Thousand Descendants of Thomas Brigham the Emigrant, 1603-1653, Vol. 1, p. 90, which shows the daughter of Thomas m. 1765 Reuben Willis and having 7 children over the period 1765-1781. On p. 114 it shows the daughter of Samuel m. [no date] Reuben Willis. However, the probate files for Samuel Brigham on 16 Nov 1768 names "Sarah Willis the wife of Reuben Willis" showing that the daughter of Samuel had married Reuben at least by this date and pretty much proving that HBF made an error in asserting this first marriage. (This was corrected in Source:Brigham, Emma Elisabeth. History of the Brigham Family, which says the daughter of Thomas married Capt. Daniel Bowker (p. 43) and only the daughter of Samuel married Reuben Willis and had all his children (p. 53). This correction was published in 1927, and should have been available to the article's authors.)]
