  4. Find A Grave.

This first memorial shows an image of the gravestone with death date 9 Apr 1849, despite the text on the memorial page erroneously saying Apr. 9, 1845. This second memorial (with no image) gives the death date 9 Apr 1879, citing the History of Enfield, Vol. 3, p. 2342. On the cited page, one does find the corresponding transcription, number 560, "Reuben Hamilton / died / April 9, 1879. AE. 54. The Lord is my light and my Salvation." Comparison of the transcription in the History of Enfield to the image in the first memorial shows the 1879 date is clearly a typo, meant to be 1849, since the rest of the transcription matches the first memorial exactly, even the quoted verse. So both memorials represent the same Reuben Hamilton, b. 1795, d. 1849. (Without this clarification, one might suspect the 1879 date applied to son Reuben, since the age 54, gives a birth about 1825, close to the son's birth in 1826. But son Reuben died in 1887 as shown by this memorial so with this clarification, everything falls into place.)
