A chance contact by air enabled two former St. Stephen men to talk to one another by radio between Saint John and Montevideo a few days ago. It came about when S/Sgt. Reginald Price, operating an amatuer radio station at Partridge Island, made contact with a station at Montevideo, Uruguay, and in the course of the conversation happened to refer to St. Stephen. The voice in Montevideo picked it up immediately, "St. Stephen?" he asked. "Why that's my home town. "Who are you?" In the identifications which followed the other party turned out to be Robert Dunston, a member of the crew of the Canadian cruiser Uganda, who happened to be in Montevideo on leave while his ship was spending four days in port in the course of a 16,000 mile cruise from Esquimalt, BC to Halifax, wher she is due in June. Both young men were keen radio fans as boys here years ago, and have followed up the hobby at every opportunity."
