    They resided at East Haven Ct. He was a ship carpenter and sailor. In the French and Indian war he was captured and held prisoner 3 years by the French. He was born in Wallingford, CT. in the home of his parents, altho his birth date is not recorded on its vital records, and probably grew up there where his marriage is recorded 21 May 1740.
    Phineas in 1749 joined his brother Samuel and 2 older sisters in the sale of his father's old homestead at Wallingford. In October 1744 Phineas Doolittle and Samuel Allivg were appointed by the Probate Court to administer the estate of their father-in-law Samuel Bassett, Elizabeth born June 2 1719. Phineas placed under guardian 1736 (NH Probate papers at Hartford.)
    Phineas was by trade a ship carpenter; also served as sailor probably in the old French ana Indian War in which he was captured and held prisoner of war 3 years by the French. He is reported to have lived some time at East Haven, Ct. ans from the French War was some years at Wallingford; later resided at or near Waterbury, Ct. Recorded at Cong. Church of Christ at Wallingford; "Burial 11 April 1760 a grand child of Phineas Doolittle at 6 months E". Phineas paid taxes at Waterbury, Ct. in 1774 on Valuation of L88 when valuations were small and public outlay guared carefully. On 11April of the same year Phineas deeded 2 1/2 acres at Waterford to Dan Doolittle and other heirs of Nathan Doolittle as this land of Phineas bounded this Nathan's on the North. Familt incomplete. At St. Arch at Hartford xxxv:25 two cattle of Phineas Doolittle bought for Army September 1780, pd L13. xxvii:48 has Phineas "fence viewer" at Rutherford, Ct.
    John DuBois of Phineas' line says a daughter of Phineas married a Ferguson; were Tories; moved to Canada and were lost to U.S. relatives.
