He was a farmer and had a farm in Oran,Fayette,Iowa. The terrain of his Oran farm is very similar to the terrain in Neidenbach,Rheinland-Pfalz,Germany, from which he and Elisabeth came. He is buried in Old Catholic Cemetery, Oelwein, Fayette, Iowa.
