In 1778 he accompanied Chief Joseph Brant on a tour of observation from New York to Canada, and they are said to have become friends. In 1783 he was appointed as second in command of a group of discharged soldiers and refugees who were about to leave New York. The group arrived in Quebec on 14 Aug 1783 on board the ship Hope. They proceeded up-river to Sorel, where they over-wintered. In the spring of 1784 they travelled on up the river, arriving at Adolphustown on 20 Mar 1784. "Loyalist Lineages" gives the death date as 1827 or 1829. Buried St. Alban's Cemetery. References
