Peter Rowe was born in Lehigh county, Pa., October 14, 1833, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jerome Tout, in East Germantown, June 16, aged 76 years, 8 months and 1 day. October 12, 1856, he was united in marriage with Catharine L. Walters. To this union eight children were born. His companion and four children preceded him in death. One brother, B.S. Rowe, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and four children,
    - Mrs. Viola Brown, of Roachdale,
    - Mrs. Emma Rothermel, of Richmond,
    - Ellsworth Rowe, of West Alexandria, Ohio, and
    - Mrs. Mary Tout, of East Germantown,
twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, survive. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Rowe moved to east Germantown, where they lived until death. During the Civil war Mr. Rowe answered the call of his country and joined the battle ranks in defense of the Union, serving three years in the Fifth Indiana Cavalry. In 1871 Mr. Rowe was received into the fellowship of the Lutheran church under the labors of Rev. M.J. Stierwalt. His death being due to the infirmities of old age, he suffered much and spoke often concerning his change, which he realized must soon come. Thus passes away a long time citizen, a patriot and a friend. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Kaley, assisted by Rev. Sappenfield. Burial in the cemetery near by.
